Emerald offers a sparkling first impression

Foyer design can really set things off on the right foot with whoever enters the home.

There’s nothing wrong with something simple and functional. But when it reaches a new level, the entrance leaves guests and even home owners with a positive feeling off the hop.

That is the experience in the Emerald. A front-drive single-family model, it reaches 2,571 square feet and is currently demonstrated in the Okotoks community of Wedderburn.

Its foyer makes an impression with an upscale two-storey format. This volume and use of windows creates a bright, luxurious area in which to greet guests while they remove their jackets and footwear.

The foyer incorporates privacy, as well, restricting views beyond the immediate space.

A second front entrance is offered through a spacious mud room with a bench, coat hooks and an organizer.

From the mud room, a short hallway reaches the kitchen’s walk-in pantry. Overall, the L-shaped cooking space packs plenty of storage, which is useful for reducing clutter.

Its island has seating for four people, includes a sink and significant surface space on which to prepare meals. There are also shelves on the side of the island, perfect for cook books and decorative bowls.

The kitchen is presented with stainless steel appliances such as a fridge with french doors and wall oven.

A dining area and great room sit side-by-side along the rear-facing wall. Along with windows on this wall, the great room had additional panes flanking a fireplace on the side wall.

While many flex rooms are located near the foyer, this one is behind the kitchen and across from the dining area. It is closed off by a sliding barn door. In the show home, the flex room is staged with a desk and a chair beneath a large window.

There is a floor plan option that lets the home buyer switch out the flex room for a main floor bedroom. A full bathroom is part of this option, as well. This route may be appealing to multi-generational households, giving elderly relatives a sleep space that allows them to avoid regular use of stairs.

In the show home, the second level demonstrates an option for four bedrooms. Two of the secondary bedrooms are front facing and one is adjacent to the central bonus room. The largest of these bedrooms reaches 10 feet four inches by 13 feet five inches.

In the three-bedroom standard orientation, all bedrooms have a walk-in closet.

As seen in the show home, a full bathroom near the side-by-side bedrooms boasts a vanity with two sinks. That lets two children of the family brush their teeth and hair at the same, making for more efficient weekday mornings.

The master bedroom is 15 feet by 16 feet six inches. It stars a generously sized walk-in closet and relaxing retreat of an ensuite. In this ensuite is a large deep-soaker tub positioned next to a shower with a glass door.

Across from the tub is a vanity with two sinks and plenty of space between them. This gives the two people using the ensuite all the surface area they need for storing hair and hygiene products.
